Creative Ballet: 3.5 - through Kindergarten/Saturdays 9:30 - 10:15 am

An imaginative, joyful dance class for young dancers! Experience both the basic structure of ballet and the creative flow of expressive movement. The class will include opportunities for creative dance work as well as the introduction of ballet positions. Music will be varied and young dancers will experience how it feels to move to different kinds of music. This class culminates in an Open Class for parents to observe. (Please note new dancers must be 3.5 to register. 3.3 year olds may register for our Thursday Intro to Ballet. Ballet 1A: NEW Class for older 5s or Kindergarteners and First Graders!

10:15-11:15am

  This addition to our curriculum allows us to offer a class for those 5 year olds and first graders for whom a Saturday class is the best choice. Many of our 5 year olds and first graders have taken our Intro to Ballet or Creative Ballet during their preschool years and are ready for a class which keeps their joyful love of dance alive while adding technical skills. Building on the imaginative and creative curriculum our young dancers enjoy, we will be focusing on both ballet positions as well as basic movement patterns. The class is more structured as it includes more "across the floor" exercises which encourage young dancers to use their positions in sequences that move through space. Creative shape making and the use of early choreographic concepts such as symmetry, asymmetry and shape levels are included. A warm, nurturing class that builds on preschool level concepts!
