A Note on Our Fee Structure
Our School and Camp are NJ 501C-3 not-for-profits which give $20,000 in scholarships annually to families who otherwise would be unable to afford dance classes for their children. We offer an alternative to commercial dance education and, as such, do not charge for any expensive recital costumes nor are there expensive tickets for our annual Spring performance of student choreography. Since the School therefore covers the rental of the performance venue and the cost of staff and assistants for the evening, we suggest a reasonable admission fee of $10 for adults - while siblings and other children can attend free.
Our regular semester includes 13 classes- The Fall culminates in an Open Class ( no admission fee) our Spring semester includes an additional evening performance for 1st grade and up. Our class fees may look a bit higher than commercial schools, but many parents report that, given all the extras the commercial schools charge for, our classes are actually less expensive in the end. In addition your tuition helps our Scholarship and Teen Internship Programs as well supporting a fine arts approach to dance education. All not-for-profits depend on donations and there are very few grants available now to help arts organizations survive. We are deeply grateful for the families who give a tax deductible donation to Lydia Johnson Dance to support our work.
FALL 2019 FEES
45 minute classes : Toddler, Pre-School and Intro to Ballet $375 for the 13 week semester
1 hour classes: Ballet 1,2 and Contemp 1& 2 $425 for the 13 classes.
1& 15 minute classes: Ballet 3 and Contemp 3 $450 for the 13 classes.
Student Company: 9 Saturday classes and 1 NYC Studio showing. 9 Saturday classes and 1 Sunday class and performance. 1hr and 15 minute Saturday classes are from 11:00 -12:!5. Fall course: $450 due at registration. Studio Performance in NYC at The Ailey Studios is Sunday November 17 at 3:00 pm. Admission for adults is $15 with siblings over 5 attending free. ( Please no younger children)
